Therapy in Auburn, California

You may know exactly what you want help with, or you may simply know that something in your life or relationships needs to change.

Maybe anxiety or depression has been taking up too much space. Maybe the same conflict keeps repeating with someone you care about. You may be grieving a loss, navigating divorce or another major transition, recovering from a difficult period in your life, or wondering why patterns you understand so well are still so hard to change.

I provide in-person individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and clinical hypnosis at my Auburn office. We can begin with what is happening now, understand the patterns that may be keeping the problem going, and work toward changes that make a meaningful difference outside the therapy room.

You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. Curiosity about what is happening and a willingness to try something different are enough places to begin.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy can help with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, recovery, identity, and personal growth.

Common Reasons People Come to Therapy

People seek therapy for all kinds of reasons, and you do not need a diagnosis or a perfectly defined problem before beginning.

Some common areas I work with include:

  • Anxiety, stress, and overthinking

  • Depression and loss of motivation

  • Relationship and attachment problems

  • Communication and recurring conflict

  • Grief and loss

  • Divorce and separation

  • Major life transitions

  • Men's issues

  • Recovery and life after addiction

  • Boundaries and relationship patterns

  • Identity and personal growth

  • Questions about meaning, purpose, and direction

Sometimes therapy begins with a specific problem. Other times, it begins with the recognition that the way you have been handling something is no longer working as well as you need it to.

Therapy That Goes Beyond Insight

Understanding yourself can be enormously helpful. But many people come to therapy already knowing why they react the way they do and still find themselves falling into the same response when emotions run high.

My approach pays attention both to understanding the pattern and to what helps something different become possible.

That may involve experimenting with new ways of responding, practicing skills in real situations, working directly with emotional experience, looking at relationship patterns, or using clinical hypnosis when it fits the work.

The larger goal is greater adaptability: being less limited by automatic patterns and increasingly able to respond in ways that fit the situation, the people you care about, and the life you want to build.
