Family Therapy

Strong Families Grow Together

Every family develops patterns of communicating, solving problems, expressing emotion, and responding to stress.

Some of those patterns bring people closer together. Others can leave family members feeling misunderstood, disconnected, overburdened, or caught in recurring conflict.

Family therapy is not about finding someone to blame. It is about understanding how the family system is functioning, recognizing how each person’s response influences everyone else, and helping the family develop healthier and more adaptable ways of relating.

Whether your family is facing a recent challenge or has been struggling for years, positive change is possible.

Who I Work With

I work with families navigating a variety of challenges, including:

  • Parent-child conflict

  • Communication difficulties

  • Blended family adjustment

  • Divorce and co-parenting

  • Life transitions

  • Grief and loss

  • Behavioral concerns

  • Ongoing tension or emotional distance

  • Difficulty establishing boundaries or expectations

  • Family members becoming stuck in rigid roles

  • One person carrying too much responsibility for everyone else

  • Repeated conflict that persists despite good intentions

Families do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Some families seek support because they want to respond to a transition thoughtfully, repair a growing disconnection, or strengthen their relationships before problems become larger.

My Approach

Every family member’s behavior makes sense within the larger family system.

Rather than focusing on one person as “the problem,” we will explore how the family has organized itself around stress, conflict, protection, loyalty, or unmet needs.

A child’s behavior may affect the parents’ responses. A parent’s anxiety may lead to overcontrol or inconsistency. One family member may overfunction while another becomes less responsible. Attempts to help may unintentionally maintain the very problem the family wants to solve.

Together, we will identify these patterns and develop new ways of responding that support both connection and individual growth.

My approach draws from family systems, structural and strategic therapy, experiential methods, and clinical hypnosis when appropriate.

We will work not only to reduce conflict, but also to strengthen the family’s ability to adapt as relationships, responsibilities, and developmental needs change.

What You Can Expect

Family therapy is active, collaborative, and focused on practical change.

Together, we will work to:

  • Improve communication and understanding

  • Reduce recurring conflict

  • Strengthen trust and emotional connection

  • Establish healthier boundaries and expectations

  • Clarify parental and family roles

  • Reduce overfunctioning, rescuing, or power struggles

  • Develop more effective ways of solving problems

  • Help family members express difficult emotions more safely

  • Create a family environment where each person can grow while remaining connected

Family members may be invited to try new responses between sessions, notice what happens before conflict begins, or practice interacting differently in specific situations.

Our goal is not to create a perfect family. It is to help your family become more adaptable, supportive, and resilient as you navigate life’s challenges together.

Building a Stronger Family

Families are constantly changing. Children grow, relationships evolve, responsibilities shift, and life introduces challenges no family can completely predict.

A healthy family is not one that avoids every struggle. It is one that can adjust without losing its sense of connection.

Therapy provides a space to better understand one another, interrupt patterns that are no longer working, and build the foundation for healthier relationships in the years ahead.

If your family is ready to move beyond old patterns and create a stronger future together, I would be honored to help.
